Learning more and more can be a helpful asset on the job. I am constantly learning something. I have spent 14 years studying Norwegian and Spanish without going to college or classes as this didn't work out in my family situation.
I studied textbooks, I watched TV and movies, I listed to podcasts, I attended church services in Spanish, I texted with native speakers, I changed the language setting in my phone and watch, I edited my paper calendar etc.. I did not do all of these things at once and the length of time varies in how long I did these things and more.

Describe your proficiency in managing virtual administrative tasks, providing examples from past experiences.
At home I stay on top of appointments. I use google calendar and a paper calendar to accomplish this. I have sent reminder emails with google calendar or I just tell my family verbally what is coming up throughout the week.
I use the reminders app on my computer to alert me of certain tasks that I need to accomplish.
I prioritize phone calls as to get them done immediately or I put a date and time alert in my reminders or on my paper list depending on the need.
At NAMI NC I entered relevant information into a database for storage.
Highlight transferable skills beyond administrative tasks, such as organization, communication, and adaptability.
Organization - Setting up my Work Structure
As a homemaker there is no job loss and no boss supervising you and the jobs still need to get done. One of the things that I had to do was clean the house. There are lots of things to do, great and small, to clean a house. So I set up lists for daily, weekly, monthly etc tasks to accomplish them. I have these tasks on paper, in the reminders app on my apple watch. Doing this keeps me in check and helps me stay focused. I did research online and with books in figuring things out. I use timers, and stopwatches to speed up my pace. I get and receive feedback from relatives when I need to improve.
Share your familiarity with virtual collaboration tools and software used in tasks like calendar management and document organization.
I am very familiar with google suite. I used the google sites app to make my personal website. I used google docs to type up this email and to create my resume. I am also very familiar with Word, Excel, and Powerpoint as I have used them to do things like tables of medical information, Powerpoint to help my child with school projects and to make my own slide shows. I use Libreoffice to study bookkeeping and accounting and other classes that I take on alison.com.
Explain your approach when faced with a task or communication in the virtual realm that you find challenging to understand.
If it’s technical issues that I am not understanding about software/hardware. Then I would check the basic features and then search online for answers. Seek help elsewhere after checking sufficiently myself.
If the words are new to me I would either email a summary asking for clarification or make a phone call to ask about it. I would keep a list of these words and definitions on notepad to refer back to until I have them memorized.
Outline your approach to maintaining confidentiality and ensuring security when handling sensitive information remotely.
What I would do would depend on the company’s policies on how to handle documents and other forms of communication. So what are they?
My computer would be for work only. I will not use it for personal use at all. My work space with stay neat, clean and organized. I will turn off my computer when work is done and store it appropriately. My work space will be in a company appropriate space.
My team experience, believe it or not, is with my family structure. My husband leads our family of four. He and I mutually agreed on what he and I were responsible for in terms of tasks. We help each other when we can while not taking over assignments. Where and when things change we again discuss it and come to an agreement mutually. For example, I was a homemaker and I did not work a job for pay for a number of years. He asked me if I would do it and I agreed. The transition wasn’t easy and I submitted to his authority. Now he and I discussed my needing enough points to collect social security retirement benefits when we are old. (This is not my primary reason for doing this, though it is a reason.) We also agreed that I would work part time to be available for family needs. He suggested it at first, we discussed it and I happily am obeying. I go to my mother in law for advice on certain things as she has wisdom that can help me. For certain areas of house care she is in charge as we live in her house. She assists me in child-rearing and we leave the more major parental concerns to be handled with me and my husband. We again discuss what happened with what we as parents should do differently. Even at my worst when it’s all said and done I apologize and try to take responsibility for my actions.
